Here are some Christmas photos, mostly of our immediate family.  Consider this post a DRAFT.  Send me Christmas photos to add ..... just email or text Phil or me.  The more the merrier.  BTY, one of these is not Christmas, but I couldn't resist, it is a family photo.  Oh and there is no requirement that the shots be from this year.

Mediterranean - 13 May 25 2023, the French Riviera, Villefranche-sur-Mer, France

 So we've finally made it to the south of France, the French Riviera.  The itinerary originally had a stop in Monte Carlo but the Grand Prix just happens to be underway now so the port was changed to Villefranche-sur-Mer instead, only 4 km from Nice, France, and 20 km from Monoco, and 20 from Monte Carlo.   Nice is home to two stars: Elton John, and Tina Turner (she died yesterday at the age of 83). We toured Nice, on Viking's included walking tour.  This is the only stop where the ship is anchored requiring tendoring to shore.  The view from our stateroom is the beautiful country side and one of several yachts, along with its dinghy speedboat zipping the owners or guests to shore.  Ah the rich and famous.  We've seen helicopters across the sky tracking from the airport to the city.  I'm guessing that the rich and famous prefer helicopter rides to SUVs or speed boats, I would too. Mediterranean - 11 - May 23 2023 Florence Italy, the arts, leather and gold

 Florence is near rolling vistas and sprawling vineyards. It is considered a living museum of the Renaissance.  Brunelleschi's famous Duomo dominates the cityscape and for good reason, it sure impressed us today!  So another day of long bus rides to get to famous Italian cities.  Today the ride was a full 2 hours in and 2 back to and from Livorno, with 5 hours to tour Florence on our own as we liked.  This was not an included tour, Viking's included tour stays more local, that'll be tomorrow for us.  The ship stays at Livorno Italy overnight, so some passengers have opted to find a hotel and stay over night in Florence.  With five hours to tour the city, a city with far fewer sites than  Rome, we had a much more relaxed visit.  This first photo is from our hike up to Piazzale Michelangelo and Bardini Gardens, where you have the option of looking through a suitcase like art structure to frame the view of Florence.  So cool. Mediterranean - 18 May 30 2023 Barcelona, Antonio Gaudi's wild designs

 Our last day in Barcelona was spent touring with an independent company, Barcelona Day Tours,  with two important new goals visiting Gaudi's Park Guell, and revisiting the Sagrada Familia to see the inside. There was some overlap with the last two days, I plan to only include new info/photos here. Motel One continues to be an excellent place to stay.  The rooms are small, modern, clean.  The staff is very helpful ordering taxis, suggesting restaurants.  Wifi is fast. The common areas are spacious and fun, and we sill love the roof top views. Our ride picked us up from the hotel at exactly 8:40  to take us to the general meeting place where we met Marc, the tour guide for the morning and 8 other guests.  Tour started at 9am. We loaded into a 12 passenger van a started with a general tour of Barcelona. Barcelona hosted the 1992 Olympics.
